If you are suffering from body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), or body dysmorphia, you will think your body is seriously flawed, even when it is not.
As a result of your preoccupation with this flaw, you may end up exercising or grooming yourself more than is healthy. You may find that you are checking your appearance excessively in the mirror.

How can I get help for body dysmorphia?
BDD is caused, in part, by abnormal brain network organization. Even so, because the brain is plastic, you can be treated for body dysmorphia in therapy. I recommend a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy and medication for body dysmorphia.
If you have been struggling with body dysmorphia for a long time, you may also experience depression or anxiety, and these must be treated as well.
